A Hippo Escaped From A Circus For A Quick Stroll In Southern Spain
This clever hippo’s means of escape are yet to be determined, but you would think someone might notice a hippopotamus sneaking out for a wander around town. The inhabitants of Palos de la Frontera, a town in southern Spain, definitely did. The big guy caused a stir, with traffic and pedestrians coming to a stand still – very wisely giving him a wide birth.
His escape was never going to last long however, and circus workers and local authorities quickly had him back in his enclosure.
A local news outlet, La Razón, reported that no harm came to the hippopotamus or anyone else during the episode.

It comes as no surprise that this Hippo wants out, just one more animal that doesn’t belong in a zoo. The local resident who took these pictures is clear on her stance writing,’Say No to circus with animals!!’ underneath her Facebook post.
Animals escaping from the circus isn’t as rare as you might think. This elephant escaped from a Dutch circus some eight months ago…
