This was the first time 31-year-old Organ, who works in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, has ever witnessed an eagle attack such as this one.
‘When I watched the sighting play itself out, I felt sad about what was happening! The Sparrowhawk was biting the Jacobin Cuckoo and trying to kill it, all while the cuckoo was fighting for its life and trying to escape,’ he explained to Kruger Sightings.
Also this unfortunate cuckoo had a really rough time, just after the camera stopped rolling, it managed to fly to safety.
Sparrow Hawks have a wide range of prey, from birds eggs, plovers and weavers, to snakes, lizards, and frogs. Read more about them here.
