Back in 2014, DSWT rescued a baby elephant from northern Kenya. However when they arrived they got more than they bargained for, finding two baby ostriches as well…


The two ostriches were rescued along with the elephant. Growing up to be named Pea and Pod, they quickly became part of the family…grownelephantostrich

According to a Facebook post by DSWT, ‘much of their time involves…chasing games with the orphan elephants. But with ostriches able to reach speeds of over 70km/h, Lasayan and the rest of the Nursery herd have little chance of catching their feathered friends.’ They are also quick growers so they aren’t so little anymore…Ostrichfinal
