How do the world’s largest land animals mate?

Weighing in at up to 7 tons, it can sometimes be a little tricky. One thing we do know for sure, however, is privacy is not required.

It’s not a common sighting on safari, but these tourists were lucky enough to get front row seats.

Making babies is a serious commitment, making elephant babies is about as serious as it gets. Elephants have the longest gestation period on the planet at 22 months and cows generally give birth every two to four years. At birth, babies can be up to three feet tall and weigh over 100 kg (220 pounds). Like we said, serious stuff.
