This unusually horned white rhino made an appearance on a road at Hluhluwe Game Reserve in South Africa. The photographs were taken by Celia Watkins as it neared her vehicle.
‘I am not very sure what happened to the rhino’s horn but someone told me that because of the length and the weight of the horn the base on the nose sometimes gets weak and makes the horn drop.

‘As far as I know it’s very rare for a rhino to have a horn like this.

‘Luckily this defect does not seem to affect the rhino and as with many animals with a defect it has managed to adapt.’
